My Oldie for Fffriday

Hello and thank you for calling in. I am still chilled after my visit to Champneys - not letting work stress me etc. But perhaps, part of it is because I now, have a week off!
My oldie, inspired by Erika at Snappy Crafts. She does some lovely posts. I like her Saturday posts too and if you haven't visited her yet, go and take at a look at the mug she has on show today (27th) I need to get one. It would be perfect to replace the one I use at work. I can think of a couple of friends who'd love one too.

My oldie is another one from one of the first cd-roms I ever bought It's My Craft Studio Fabulous Fifties. Two of the images are glued flat and the top image is foam mounted. It was probably made well before I bought dies, EF, bling. If I made it again, I'd dry emboss a background and be tempted to add Nuvo or CE liquid pearls, or Glossy Accents.
I hope you have a lovely week end. The sun is shining brightly here but I bet it's mighty cold. Off to the post office now to post a baby jacket and card I have made

Hello everyone. Thank you for popping in and if you're able to leave a comment, I value them and love to see your feedback.
Well, what can I say! We had a fabulous time and would thoroughly recommend a visit. I have never had a massage before and there's me, the mother of an Holistic Therapist! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I don't know about you but I hate the hard sell. Not here, OK the therapist gave you a list of products they'd used but that was it. The shop was in a different area and so you didn't feel obliged to go there and buy, buy, buy. we went ot breakfast on the first day dressed in our joggers and hoodies and felt very overdressed! Most people were wandering around in their white robes! We went for a swim - first time for me in over 6 years. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed swimming! We also went to the Relaxation Room, which we christened the Big Brother room. It was dimly lit with about 6 loungers and a screen showing flames. Had the flames not looked like a raging inferno, then yes, it may have been relaxing. Eventually the flames died down and it did become quite mesmerising. But it was too quiet, so my daughter turned on her White Noise app and played crackling twigs - much better. We did have a giggle playing the other noises like, lapping water, ticking clock etc. Daughter thoroughly enjoyed her Baby Bump treatment. I particularly enjoyed not having to think about cooking! Some of the food needed a sauce - but that was our personal preference. Again, it was really neat that each dish showed the nutrient content - great if you are counting calories and for me counting carbohydrates. Don't look too closely as us - no make up and bad hair, but we didn't care, that was the whole point!

Oldie for Fffriday

Hello everyone. I'm sorry it's late, but better late than never. Tomorrow I'm off to Champneys for a couple of days with my daughter. It's a birthday present - back in October that at long last we have gotten around to booking. I'm really looking forward to being pampered and have a break from cooking etc. My neck and shoulders need a good pummelling!
Today's card is inspired by Erika It looks like she had the same feeling as me on the day (and I honestly didn't know she'd written taht heading. I like her Saturday post too. They make me smile.
My offering for today is an Engagement card for my future son in law's cousin. They own a building company. they thought this "Graffiti-ed" wall was hilarious.. Sorry about the dodgy photo, even down to me forgetting to straighten or take away the envelope poking out from underneath! At least this time MRS DUCK, you haven't got to "cock your head"
5x7 card blank
MCS cd rom for the brickwork paper which covered the card completely - no matting and layering in those days! I wrote the text and created the hearts within MCS, laying them out at different angles. I coloured them white to look like paint/chalk.

Enjoy your week end everyone and thank you for visiting

My first ever Shaker card!

Hello All
Thank you for calling in and if you leave a comment, thank you. I have decided to only post on Thursdays and Saturdays. I would have loved to have posted on Tuesdays as well but I just can fit it all in as you've probably realised. So, Thursdays will be either my Craft Rocket Challenge design or something else, maybe a card or  a knitting project or  a cake, some crochet, who knows. Saturdays will be an oldie, maybe not!
Daughter seems to be getting bigger and bigger everyday. We had a great day shopping on Saturday, I was even allowed to get some crafty stash - some black card from The Range and other stash. She even bought herself a colouring book! if you knew my daughter you'd understand that she is not in the least bit crafty - coz mum can do it for me. She felt she needed something to do other than her iPad.
Todays' caed is a first for me - a shaker card. I made it for a crafting friend who is as passionate about knitting as I am. I am thrilled with the result and am in the middle of making a similar one for a quilter/patchworker

Oldie for Fffriday

Hello Everyone
Thank you for visiting and I do enjoy seeing your comments. Welcome to my new followers too. Great to see you and hope you like what you see. LORI. The diagonal die is a lovely die. I think I made hard work of it because I was trying to cut all of the "diagonals" one evening. So the light was not very good and the reflection of the ruler from the light I was using made it quite hard to line up. I have done i since in daylight and it was easy.
Today's card is inspired by Erika at Snappy Crafts It's a great way to look back at our "old" projects and see how we've changed our crafting but also to remind ourselves of techniques we used to do. It reminds me of the memories of the occasion that it was created for. With that in mind I am posting an old card I made for MIL's birthday about 4-5 years ago. She'll be 91 next week!

Off out shopping later with my daughter - she's running out of clothes that fit! We'll probably visit a couple of craft shops too. She knows how to make her mum happy! I'm sorry it's side ways on I am having such problems with my photo editor at the moment and I'm running out of time to mess about. If I can, later, I will try to change it.
I created the "scene" from a MCS cd-rom and added the "lady" decoupage. So a lot of fussy cutting!

Craft Rocket Challenges

Hello Everyone
How's it going in your world. MIL is fine, if only she knew how much of a panic she got me in! She did admit that she overdid it a bit. She hasn't been out walking (far) for ages. She's usually picked up and driven to places. To try and get a bus and shop was like doing a marathon for her. I'm trying to encourage her to go for a walk but to build up gradually. The weather isn't helping. She'd get blown over in this wind.
Today's design for Craft Rocket Challenges. The theme is Valentine/Love. it would be lovely to see you join in.
This is my card for my husband Sssh! don't tell him. I wanted to try different techniques, Every card I make for him - birthday, anniversary valentines etc are always experiments to see if they work for using for future projects. It became harder than I thought it'd be. I rarely use dies for backgrounds and thought I'd give it a go. It became tricky in that, this die is on the diagonal and I suddenly found I was running out of room to make the die fit across the page the higher up the card I place the die. The die comes in three parts. I used the intricate patterned piece which cuts the pattern leaving it "in the card" spacing them apart by 1/8" apart. I used a Perfect Layers ruler to do this. Once cut, I wasn't going to put frames around it, but it looked "unfinished without them. Will I make it again? Not sure as it took me so long to create the die cut background. The coloured background is a piece of card coloured in Serif to create an Ombre effect. The font is a freebie
